José Teunissen wins Profielprijs 2016
12/08/16The Profielprijs 2016 is unanimously awarded by the jury to fashion theorist and curator José Teunissen. Stichting Profielprijs is awarded since 1990 to a person who works with textiles in a special way and on a professional level. José Teunissen has been working in the field of fashion and textiles for 25 years, with great knowledge and passion she brought the subject to the attention of a broad and professional audience. Through her exhibitions, publications and research projects she has put fashion on the international map as a field of study and reflection. The Profielprijs is a token of appreciation for Teunissen’s innovative approach to fashion as well as the international scope of her work.
The award ceremony will take place on September 30th, 2016 during the opening of the exhibition ‘Three Eyes’ at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
The Profielprijs 2016 consists of a cash prize of € 3500, – and a trophy designed by Victoria Empty. The jury of the Profielprijs 2016, consisting of Suzan Rüsseler – curator of European Textile Design at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, Karin Arink – artist and department head of BA Fine Arts and BA Photography of the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and Marty Lamers – fabric designer and head of the department Man and Identity of the Design Academy in Eindhoven, which nominates the candidates for this award, unanimously came to its decision.
